Brown Rice is unrefined grain of rice that has got vitamins and antioxidants that are healthy for our hearts. They are very rich in fiber thus are helpful in keeping out body fit and healthy. Many people find it troublesome cooking brown rice because these grains are unpredictable as compared to the regular rice. One can use various ways to prepare the brown rice. Both short and long grain brown rice can be cooked using the same methods.

- Brown Rice and water
Cooking time = 35 minutes
Put brown rice and water in a pot with a lid. You must add 1.5 cups of water for 1 cup of rice. The heat should be kept to maximum while cooking the brown rice. Boil the water and brown rice keeping the pot uncovered. When it has started boiling put the lid on the pot and low the heat. In case the lid of the pot has got steam valve that must be kept closed. Cook the brown rice in low heat for about 20 minutes. Then turn off the heat and keep the rice in the covered pot for about 10 minutes more. It could be kept for 20-30 minutes also but never keep the rice in the covered pot for less time. Then remove the cover but while doing so you must be careful because lots of steam comes out when the lid is removed.
You can bring little variation to the way you are going to eat the brown rice. Take some brown rice and mix it with tamari and also with a tablespoon of sesame seeds. Adding the sesame seeds with add flavor to the rice. This rice can be taken with any side dish.
